Learning outcome

A candidate who has completed his or her qualification should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

Knowledge

  • gained a thorough understanding of key concepts and theories within the field of development studies and geography
  • gained solid knowledge of methods of data collection and analysis in development studies and geography
  • reached an in-depth understanding of a specific development topic through the work with the master thesis

Skills

  • be able to identify and formulate relevant and feasible research objectives for a scientific study and develop an appropriate research design
  • be able to undertake an independent research project under academic supervision
  • applying relevant theories and methods and according to ethical norms for research and dissemination

General competence

  • acquired skills relevant for employment in public and private sectors and in academic research
  • obtained an advanced level of written and oral proficiency
