What is a specialization?
A specialization is a specific field within a programme of study. The specializations are comprised of courses that are naturally linked. Specializations provide all students with a sensible academic profile and depth in their studies, and equip students to solve the tasks that await in their working life.

Projects and theses
The project and master’s theses work in the 9th and 10th semester allow students to work closely with the academic environment and with relevant problems. The students have a great deal of influence concerning the approach to the problem, and can tailor the scope to best suit their interests.
Project assignment in the 9th semester
The specialization course includes a project work and 2 or 3 theoretical subjects. The accompanying project work and rapport is tied to research activities at the department or in industry. Depending on the student’s preferences, the project work can be completed individually or in groups of 2-3.
Master’s thesis in the 10th semester
It is often desirable to build on the project work from the previous semester, and complete one´s master’s thesis within the same field; but this is not a requirement. The master’s thesis is often written in cooperation with an organization or business enterprise. In such cases, it may be beneficial to work for the enterprise one summer, complete the project rapport in the 9th semester, and write one´s master’s thesis on the same topic.
