Specialization
Photonics
Photonics deals with light. You will learn about the physics related to optical phenomena and components, and the range of application within medicine, communication, and sensor technology. Today, lasers are applied in anything from CD players to speeder-catching sensors. By sending laser beams through an optical fiber, tools have been invented for most applications; from surgery to high-speed Internet connections. Other areas where fiber optics and lasers are used are e.g. quantum cryptography, advanced measuring techniques, and medical equipment for examinations and treatment.
