- Study Abroad
Students may choose to take their 4th year at a university or college abroad provided that the place of study is approved, or at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS). Students are required to follow a full-time programme, and choose courses that to the highest degree possible correspond to the obligatory and elective courses they would otherwise follow at NTNU. The student must have passed all required exams before the permission to study abroad can be granted.
The Norwegian State Education Loan Fund gives financial support to studies abroad when the studies last one or two semesters. It is also possible to apply for a scholarship from the International Section at NTNU.
Our teaching staff has excellent contacts internationally and may help you if you wish to complete parts of your studies abroad. The International Section at NTNU also provides help when planning studies abroad. You will find more information and links to the necessary forms and organizations on our web pages. Please bear in mind that early planning is important. Some of the most popular international universities and colleges among our students in recent years include:
- University of Texas, Austin
- Texas A&M University
- Texas Tech University
- Colorado School of Mines
- Oklahoma State University
- University of Calgary
- Adelaide University

- University of Campinas
- Technical University of Delf
