Depositing your thesis in an institutional repository serves as a quick and easy way of disseminating your work. It is voluntary to do so at NTNU, but we strongly recommend that you use this opportunity to make your thesis available to the public. Your thesis will not be made publicly available before we receive a written agreement from you. You will find more information about the agreement and copyright issues in the appropriate sections below.
Submitting a monograph thesis to DiVA
Copyright issues
If you plan to publish your thesis by a publisher, it will most likely still be possible to deposit your thesis in DiVA. You should however contact the publisher and ask for their policy on this issue.
Submitting your monograph thesis to DiVA
You should submit your thesis online. If you do not currently have a username at NTNU you should send your thesis in pdf-format to publishing@ub.ntnu.no. You should also state the title of the thesis, date of defence and degree in the e-mail. Send two signed copies of the agreement between you and NTNU to
Katherine Fonn,
NTNU University Library, Section for Information Resources
7491 Trondheim
You will receive one signed copy in return. In case you have used material that is subject to copyright, you should also send a copy of your communication with the publisher.
Submitting a thesis with articles to DiVA
Copyright issues
If you have articles that are the publisher version in your thesis, you should ask for permission from the publisher to include this in the online version of the thesis. If the publishers do not allow this, or if you do not want these articles to be included, just give us notice and we will remove these articles from the pdf-file. A good tool for looking up publisher's policy on this issue is the SherpaRomeo list on publishers copyright policies and self-archiving. If you need some help with determining whether you can include the articles or not, we can be of assistance. Send an e-mail to Publishing@ub.ntnu.no.
