Regular study programmes
Master's programme in Architecture (5 years)
The Master's programme in Architecture is a five-year program. The education is based on learning by assignments or projects. Ordinary lectures are held in the more typical knowledgebased courses. The first three years are equal for all the students. The last two years, the students can choose among the courses offered at the faculty or other specialist environments at NTNU relevant to the architect education. The last term the students are working with their master's thesis.
Master's programme in Architecture (2 years)
The two-years master program builds on a three-years Bachelor's Degree in Architecture. It is the same as the last two years in the five-year Master's programme.
Bachelor of Fine Art
Master of Fine Art
The study program of Fine Art is divided in two parts – one bachelor program (three years) and one master's program (two years). The program gathers the traditional techniques of painting, drawing, sculpture and graphics with new intermedia-techniques. The education emphasises development of creativity and to put artistic processes in to a theoretical context. The Master's program is an International study program, and is taugt in English.
Master Program in Physical Planning
The master's program in physical planning is an interdisciplinary program and is offered to candidates with a bachelor degree in for instance land-use planning, engineering, art and design, logistics, social science, ecology, economy, administration, management and pedagogy. The master program provides competence within areas like planning design, planning processes and planning management. This is a two year program.
Master program in Real Estate and Facilities Management
The master's program is interdisciplinary and is a result of collaboration between the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Art and the Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology. The main focus of the study program is development and management of buildings, estates and infrastructure, and it comprises organising, technical and economical conditions. Interdisciplinary work, totality and life-cycle perspectives connected to transformation of existing urban areas, neighbourhood and buildings is emphasized.
Master of Science in Urban Ecological Planning
The master program is an offer to candidates with different backgrounds in planning. The study is based on interdisciplinary project courses.
Master of Science in Sustainable Architecture
Participants in the international MSc programme for Sustainable Architecture will learn to identify and apply the correct measures and resources to design high-quality, cost effective architecture that contributes towards achieving a zero emission built environment.
PhD-studies
PhD Architecture
PhD Architecture is a doctoral programme providing further education and academic specialisation to candidates with master level education. The PhD programme can be suitable for those who are aiming for a career in higher education or research, or for positions in the business sector or public administration.
Fellowship Programme
The Norwegian Artistic Research Fellowship Programme is parallel to other research educations organised as academic PhD programmes. The programme intends to secure high level artistic research and leads to expertise as Associate Professor. The Fellow must be associated with one of the Norwegian institutions offering one or more creative and/or performing art educations. Both Artists and Architects can apply.
