New video studio in Trondheim – starting with a farewell

Studio Akrinn broadcast it’s first production on April the 26th, and paradoxically, the opening was marked with an end. Berit Kjelstad was wished farewell and good luck as she became a pensioner after many years of service at NTNU.

The video studio can be used by all employees, contact us through NTNU Help, or send us an e-mail.

Digital Læringsfestival 2021

Spring means it’s Læringsfestival time! Our annual conference focused on teaching and learning, Læringsfestival, had over fifty presentations and contributions from twenty different educational institutions in Norway and abroad. Keynote speaker David Boud from the University of Technology Sydney received a good response to his post on evaluation and feedback.

Other topics were VR technology and podcasts in teaching, peer response, digital exams and many more. Recordings of the posts will be available on YouTube. There was even an entertaining treat for the participants.

Ny plattform for erfaringsdeling

Blacboard support

More than 150 nano courses have been created to show how Blackboard can be used at NTNU. Nano-courses:

  • are short
  • are focused and specific
  • are searchable
  • can be used across devices

The courses are sometimes purely technical, while others show examples of good pedagogical use.

The nano courses are found where you need them, in the lower right corner of Blackboard.

Examples of nanos:

Faculty share their experiences

NTNU is bursting with talented faculty trying out different methods of teaching and new programmes. New ideas and experiences synergise when shared with others.

During spring semester 2021, the Section for Teaching and Learning Support has focused on helping NTNU's lecturers to share their experiences across faculties and institutes. We held three Læringstreff (experience sharing seminars) and a series of four lunch webinars, Lunch & Learn, where thirteen NTNU members Led discussions around pedagogy and technology. Themes such as peer assessment, psycho-social learning environment and One Note have been on the program.

Learning from each other and discussing with colleagues is something that many people appreciate, and something that the Section for Learning Support is looking forward to continuing.

New tools for universal design

All digital learning resources legally must be designed according to the principles of universal design. The Section for Teaching and Learning support manages NTNU's digital learning environment and has several aids that can assist teachers to increase the accessibility of their resources. Microsoft's Accessibility suite, Ally and automatic subtitling in Panopto are some of the most useful tools.

Ally in Blackboard helps educators improve accessibility and allows students to download resources in a variety of formats. During the 2020/2021 academic year, students have downloaded over 60,000 resources from 3,800 courses in various formats!
