Build a greener community

Build a greener community

Through the network of Climate-KIC municipalities, cities and other public bodies can engage the local community together with entrepreneurs and businesses from all over the world to solve heavy weighing climate problems. By inviting different actors to collaborate in solving local challenges, one supports international climate friendly action and make new technology available for both people and organisations, thus taking a leap towards becomming a greener and more sustainable community.

Low Carbon City Lab (LoCaL) is a platform where cities are provided with better tools for assessing greenhouse gas emissions, planning, investing and evaluating progress in emission reductions. NTNU and Trondheim are already involved in Carbon Track and Trace (CTT).

Climathon is a 24 hour hackathon where people come together and solve climate change problems, either by contributing to existing ideas, or present brand new ones. A climathon can be hosted as a stand-alone event or one can cooperate with cities worldwide to take part in a global climathon.

Open Innovation allows a city to present their local climate problem to the entire Climate-KIC. Entrepreneurs, scientists, businesses and organisations in the Climate-KIC network are invited to submit their solutions for the city's problem. Selected solutions are invited to present their idea for the local community and potential investors with the goal of establishing collaborations to solve identified problems with new ideas or technologies.
