Comparative Medicine Core facility
Comparative Medicine Core Facility (CoMed) provides assistance in medical research involving laboratory animals at NTNU, St. Olav's Hospital and other research institutions.
The core facility is approved to handle housing of different small and large animals. There is a transgenic breeding unit, specific pathogene free (SPF) unit, I3 laboratory and a quarantene unit. Several operation rooms, labs and equipment are available for both small and large animals.

Competence of personell
According to the new regulation on animal experimentation, all personnel working with laboratory animals must keep their skills and knowledge up to date with continuous practical training and education. More specific information about the requirements is found here:
Please make sure to update the information under “Personal details” in FOTS after attending different CPD activities. The animal facility will arrange in house seminars and practical training sessions on a regular basis. Information about upcoming events will be posted at our website.
