Background and activities
I studied Chemical Engineering and I have a master in Process Engineering. I worked as a researcher in corrosion and tribocorrosion phenomena in metals in the IPM. And now I started my PhD in the corrosion field. Below you can find a list of different activities I perform in the lab:
- Hydrogen induced stress cracking (HISC) testing in artificial sea water.
- Pitting and crevice corrosion testing of SDSS (super duplex stainless steel).
- Hydrogen diffusion testing on steel in 0.1M NaOH.
-Cathodic protection of thermal sprayed aluminium (TSA) in seawater.
- Tribocorrosion phenomena on new complex metal alloy in fluid body environment.
- Set up and design of new electrochemical techniques for use in tribology. Electrochemical noise technique to measure the galvanic current between the depassivated and passivated areas of stainless steel in tribocorrosion tests at open circuit potential.
- Hands-on training new coming students and assisting the PhD students in the "Tribology lab" with laboratory tests and new set-ups.
- Hands-on operating equipment: tribometers, potentiostats (electrochemical measurements), sample metallographical preparation (polishing, grinding, embedding), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Focused ion beam (FIB), Energy- dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), confocal microscopy, optical microscopy, Vickers hardness, nanoindenter.
