Background and activities

Evgenii Salganik is a researcher at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering since January 2016. His supervisors are Knut V. Høyland and Aleksey Shestov.

He has a bachelor's and master's degree from the Institute of Civil Engineering at St Petersburg State Polytechnic University (SPbPU) in Russia with a master's thesis "Ice induced vibrations of offshore structures".

The topic of his current Ph.D. study is "Thermodynamic scaling of first-year ice ridges". His main interests are

  • Atmospheric heat fluxes

  • Sea ice growth and thermodynamics

  • Ice ridges

  • Heat transfer in porous media

He is also a member of the ongoing MOSAiC expedition as a part of the HAVOC project. His responsibilities are related to the ice ridge morphology and thermodynamics.
