Background and activities

Gilles Pitard is a post-doctoral researcher at the Norwegian Media Technology Lab at NTNU Gjøvik. He defended his thesis on May 2016 at Annecy (Université Savoie Mont Blanc) in the SYMME Laboratory. His research focuses on measuring, understanding and control the appearance of real surfaces, using Reflectance Transformation Imaging techniques (RTI) which provide various imaging modalities (appearance under varying illumination, normals and curvatures, spectral data). He joined the project « Development of Imaging Tools for Change Detection of Cultural Heritage Objects ». The project requires to combine knowledge from multidisciplinary fields such as imaging, computing, surface geometry, cultural heritage, etc.
