Jonas Kristiansen Nøland
Background and activities
Jonas Kristiansen Nøland is currently an Associate Professor of energy conversion and electromagnetics with NTNU, a coordinator of NTNU's Clean Aviation research initiative, and a communication manager for the hydropower system project SysOpt. He holds a PhD in Engineering Physics from Uppsala University - Angstrom Laboratory.
Since August 2019, he is serving as an Associate Editor for the American scientific journal, the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON ENERGY CONVERSION (Q1). In October 2020, he was appointed to serve as an Associate Editor for the American scientific journal, the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS (Q1). From 2022, he is also the Chair for the IEEE Power and Energy Society Chapter of Norway.

- Electric aviation (Battery-electric, hydrogen-electric, "more electric aircraft" / "all electric aircraft")
- Hyperloop technology (maglev and electromagnetic propulsion)
- Energy conversion - Losses, spatial power densities and energy efficiencies generation facilities.
- Genetic algorithms, optimization, design-algorithms, machine learning, reverse engineering and biomimicry.
- Electromagnetics and electrical machines
