2022-2023 Research stay
University of Kansas, Department of Special Education (USA). The aim of the research stay is to strengthen the network on Universal Design / Special Needs Education within schools and higher education, as well as immerse myself in research on implementation strategies in knowledge organizations / learning organizations, including:
§ Competence development offers and their impact on teachers' use of universal design in their day-to-day teaching practice
In this research project, I am investigating the effect that various competence development offers have had on teachers' use of universal design for learning in their day-to-day teaching practice, and how competence development offers should be designed for a longer-term implementation in the organization. The results from this project will provide important knowledge for the implementation of similar national policies at NTNU (e.g. GDPR, Norwegian Language Act), and for other competence development offers from Uniped. Method: surveys, interviews
Planned results are: 1-2 peer-reviewed scientific articles, seminar with Uniped / Learning Support Center / Accommodation Services at NTNU.
§ Students as partners in the implementation of Universal Design for Learning
In this research project, I interviewed 10 focus groups consisting of students in my master's course "Experts in Teams – an inclusive learning environment". The goal is to investigate the extent to which students can contribute to the implementation of universal design and an inclusive learning environment at NTNU, by the students themselves identifying problem areas and measures for solutions.
Planned results: 1-2 peer-reviewed scientific articles and conference papers, seminar with Uniped/ Learning Support Center / Accommodation Services at NTNU.
2021-2023 The interpretation and application of criteria for associate professor promotion
Research project in collaboration with Yngve Nordkvelle (professor of pedagogy at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences) and Stig Eriksen (associate professor in supervision pedagogy at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences).
In this research project, we analysed 31 associate professor applications with associated committee evaluations from various institutions in Norway, with regard to how applicants and committees interpret and apply the criteria for associate professor promotion as set out in the Regulations relating to Appointment and Promotion and Guidelines for Application and Assessment of Applications from Universities Norway (UHR).
Results: 1 report, 2 peer-reviewed scientific conference presentations, 1 scientific seminar. Planned: 1 peer-reviewed scientific article, possibly new guidelines for applicants and committees in collaboration with UHR
2020-2023 The structural reform in the Norwegian HE-sector and its implications for educational development offers at decentralised educational campuses
Research project in collaboration with Tor Jørgen Schjelde (Associate professor in Organizational Development, UiT Harstad).
In this research project, we interviewed 29 leaders, faculty and educational developers at NTNU and UiT. We wish to shed light on how the structural reform in higher education has affected the educational development follow-up of faculty at the former university colleges in Ålesund, Gjøvik, Harstad, Narvik and Alta. The aim is to be able to propose a future organisation that addresses the need for competence development for faculty at these educational campuses, but which also takes into account the organisational structure of the merged HE-institution.
Planned results: 1-2 peer-reviewed scientific articles, conference papers, 1 seminar, possibly workshop for educational development units at NTNU and UiT.
2020-2022 Associate professor qualification at NTNU
This research project was in collaboration with Kristin Skjeldestad (HR and HSE department at NTNU) and Kari Smith (professor at the Department of Teacher Education, NTNU). We investigated assistant professors' conditions and frameworks for qualification, as well as the need for competence development and an evaluation of various competence development programmes for assistant professor. Method: surveys, interviews, evaluations
Results: 1 peer-reviewed scientific article, 1 report, 2 short communications
