Background and activities
Maria has got a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's degree with honors in Applied Mathematics and Physics at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). She was a part of the laboratory in Roscosmos head company Central Research Institute of Machine Building (TsNIIMash).
She is currently a PhD candidate in the Structural Dynamics group at the Department of Structural Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, NTNU. Her main theme is fatigue of railway bridges. It is quite important that the state of material fatigue in the bridge stock can be predicted and monitored to avoid bridge collapse due to the catastrophic consequences to human life, environment as well as economic cost. Using numerical simulations and field measurements, she improves understanding and prediction methods of the remaining life of railway bridges.
