PhD candidate from Colourlab at NTNU Gjøvik from April 2020 to March 2024.
The title of my PhD thesis is "Image-based Estimation of Physical Correlates of the Visual Appearance of Snow".
Using imaging devices and processing methods, the focus was on snow surface and subsurface properties related to light interactions such as reflectance, sparkle, absorption and scattering. The aim was to try to find a connection between these appearance properties and the intrinsic parameters of snow such as grain size and grain shape. Potential applications in AR/VR, video games, movie industry, classification of snow using airborne devices.
Background in applied optics, mathematics, physics, signal and image processing, machine learning.
