Dr. Sardar Wasi Uddin Al Ahmed is Assistant Professor at the NTNU School of International Business in Ålesund. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Dhaka, a MSc degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and a PhD degree in Digital Entrepreneurship from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

His research explores how digitalization, digital entrepreneurship, the platform economy, and entrepreneurship ecosystems interact to shape modern entrepreneurial activity. In particular, he investigates how platform-based business models and network ties drive innovation, collaboration, and ecosystem development. His work seeks to advance understanding of how digital transformation enables new forms of entrepreneurship and value creation in the evolving digital economy.

Sardar Wasi is actively engaged in several research and innovation projects, including the Blue Circular Economy project, which supports SMEs developing recycling solutions in the Northern Periphery region; MIDAS, a collaborative initiative advancing autonomous maritime technologies; and Aidency, a partnership with a Norwegian company developing connected medical solutions such as the 113KIT®.

He has teaching experience in Marketing Research, Quantitative Methods and Econometrics, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Entrepreneurship and Business Development.

Research

  1. Blue Circular Economy: This projects supports small and medium enterprises engaged within FNRCs recycling solutions in the Northern periphery region for the purpos of gaining great market reach. The project was funded by European Union (EU).
  2. International Business Project: This project is a part of Innovation Norway's internationlization initiative to carry research that contributes to uncover distinctive market opportunities for Norwegian investors and entrepreneurs globally. The project is funded by Innovation Norway 
  3. MIDAS (Mennesket i fremtidens havromsoperasjoner) project: It is a capacity-building initiative led by Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) together with industry partners and research institutes. Its goal is to advance autonomous maritime technology in Norway by 2026 through education, business model development, and fostering human-machine collaboration in future ocean operations
  4. Aidency project: Aidency AS is a Norwegian company that develops medical-equipment solutions, most notably the 113KIT®, an electronic medical kit designed to be connected to the emergency dispatch centre (113) and enable earlier intervention in acute situations. Their product is CE-marked, procedure‐based, and aims to allow trained non-medical persons under supervision to administer certain medications while awaiting professional help.

Blue Circular Economy (BCE)

The Blue Circular Economy is a transnational project funded by the Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme, that helps Small and Medium-Sized enterprises (SMEs) offering products and services.

International Business Project

International Business Project is an annual non-profit project carried out by a group of students attending the NTNU, NHH and BI Norwegian Business School, that aims to uncover distinctive international business opportunities in emerging markets.

MIDAS (Mennesket i fremtidens havromsoperasjoner) project

It is a capacity-building initiative led by Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) together with industry partners and research institutes.
