Tamal Ghosh
About
Tamal is a researcher at the IVB. He has a strong background and interest in Machine Learning and Big Data Analysis, evolutionary and nature/inspired algorithms, and designing-planning-optimization of smart manufacturing facilities in Industry 4.0. He is an expert in building mathematical models to aid Decision-Support Systems, Multi-Criteria Decision-Making tools. He is also an expert in soft-computing algorithms and Artificial Intelligent techniques. He is an avid computer programmer. He has had many good publications in reputable journals and conferences during the past 10 years.

Research
Tamal is working as a Researcher (big data) at IVB, NTNU i Gjøvik. He has a close collaboration with companies in Raufoss Industry Park including SINTEF Manufacturing AS.
Before that, he was working as a researcher of SFI Manufacturing at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). His project work was related to the development of a vision-based quality inspection system for the Cyber-Physical System (CP) Learning Factory. This work had a collaboration with SINTEF Manufacturing AS Norway. He dealt with big data inside the CP factory and used ML/AI to predict/maintain the system's performance.
He is also an expert researcher in building mathematical models to aid Decision-Support Systems, Multi-Criteria Decision-Making tools. He has prior expertise in developing and implementing evolutionary algorithms, nature-inspired optimization, and deep learning tools and techniques.
