Trondheim is the 3rd largest city in Norway and is often called the Technology capital of Norway, as it is host to NTNU and SINTEF as well as a large number of high-tech companies. It is considered to be student city No. 1 in Norway, renowned for its student social activities and where one in five inhabitants is a student.


It is also a historic city, with roots more than 1000 years back in time, and is has at times been the capital of Norway. Trondheim can offer scenic surroundings and a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities.


City Bus

City busses run frequently between the city center and the conference venue at NTNU Gløshaugen. For attendants staying at the Comfort Hotel, bus no 5 and 22 runs frequently between downtown and ‘Gløshaugen Syd'. Bus fare is NOK 50 for a single trip.

If you choose to walk to the conference venue from the city center, anticipate a 20 – 30 minute walk.  



The conference will take place in Realfagsbygget. 15 - 20 minutes walk from the city center. Bus no 5 (Dragvoll) passes through the campus. Map Campus Gløshaugen.

Normal banking hours are from Monday to Friday between 08.00 and 15.00. Exchange is better done at Forex, located at the Railwaystation.  


Shopping Hours

Shops are open from 10.00 to 17.00 (Malls to 20.00) Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, shops are open untill 15.00 (18.00). All shops are closed on Sundays.


Supermarkets are typically open from 07.00 to 21.00 Monday to Friday, with somewhat shorter hours on Saturdays. Only a few smaller supermarkets are open on Sundays.
