Robotics is a technology area which will be essential for future Norwegian industry to ensure competitiveness and high quality products. Robotics can substitute high cost labor in demanding environments and contribute to the reduction of production costs and more efficient operations. Further research and development is needed to bring new robotics technology to Norwegian industry and society to solve our future challenges.
Robotics is an enabling technology with a number of application areas as oil/gas production, process industry, medicine, health and welfare. It is also a multidisciplinary theme which involves a number of technologies as communication technology, automatic control, autonomy, human-machine interface, sensor technology, electronics and computer science.
The main purpose of the project is to further develop the high level research activity within robotics at NTNU IE supporting and initiating new collaboration initiatives within IE technology areas.
The project is part of ROBOTNOR, Centre for Advanced Robotics, established together with SINTEF in 2012. The project includes 2 PhD positions.
