Current Problems in Innovation and Strategy

- Reverse Session

On September 11th, 2018 we gathered in Bergen for a new type of seminar.  This time BKK hosted us at their headquarters at Kokstad just 5 minutes from Flesland airport.  The traditional PIMS Executive Forum format is to have an international scholar and leading thinker come and talk to us and engage us in discussions around a specific topic where the speaker is pushing the knowledge-frontier.

This time however, we decided to have a reverse format.  In the “reverse seminars” we want to put innovation and strategy challenges from the companies front and center.  And, discuss these to build on experiences across companies and industries and to learn from each other.  In this seminar we faced innovation challenges from BKK and Equinor.

In the morning session BKK challenged us on how to use innovation projects to balance the need to simultaneously operate core processes efficiently and use temporary projects to drive new solutions?

In the afternoon we faced the Equinor challenged us on how to lead digitalization projects in organizations.

Both challenges led to stimulating and engaged discussions both in groups...

... and in plenary sessions.

The discussions were expertly facilitated by Amy Edmondson with professors Paul Verdin and Alf Steinar Sætre as additional resources.
