Main topics for research

In this group we perform research on renewable energy with emphasis on different aspects of bioenergy and solar energy covering energy system modeling, energy efficiency analysis of industrial processes, biogas production, optimization and upgradation, gasification, district heating, biomass supply chain and hybrid energy system comprising different renewable energy techniques. In addition, we have excellent competence in addressing current issues related to climate and environment. We use state-of-the-art modeling tool to analyze the most pressing and urgent issues on energy and environment and look at other relevant areas such as carbon sequestration and footprint.

Goals and objectives

Through our research our main goal is to contribute heavily to the sustainable energy development at regional and national level in Norway that complies within the NTNU’s core research strategies. We envision to offer cutting edge solutions in achieving resource optimization and circular economy within the context development of sustainable energy.

Student projects Renewable energy

Student projects Renewable energy

Our students have the opportunity to work on real life projects within the field of renewable energy.

One student project has been changing the whole system for energy source on a car, from diesel to local biogas, as well as installing solar panels on the roof for electricity.
