Dubrovnik Fall School in Linguistic Methods, October 20–26, 2013

Dubrovnik Fall School in Linguistic Methods, October 20–26, 2013

The Researcher School aims to give national and international PhD candidates the skills and competence needed for advanced research in linguistics and language studies. The Fall School was a followup of the successful Summer school organized by NHH Norwegian School of Economics, the University of Bergen and the University of Oslo in August 2012, the Svolvær Summer School in Linguistic Theory and Methods.

As requested by the participants in Svolvær, the Fall school had an even more distinct focus on the methodological aspects of different kinds of linguistic research. The course eas a combination of lectures and hands-on work for the PhD candidates, including presentations of and comments on thesis project proposals, draft chapters, etc.

We anticipated that it would be very useful for the participants to learn more about methods in cognitive linguistics and corpus linguistics, to get the chance to have their own work commented on by leading professionals in the field, and to receive ideas on how to handle their linguistic data and how to test their hypotheses.

Credits awarded: 5 ECTS

Questions about the fall school may be sent to Gro-Renée Rambø and Victoria Rosén.
