The summer school will be held on the incredible island of Svalbard at the Radisson Blu Polar hotel. There will be plenty of opportunity for hiking and exploring, as well as one excursion specifically organized by the school.

Who can participate

All LingPhil PhD students registered for the summer school are eligible to apply and receive full funding for travel and board. Numbers are restricted to 35, and in the case of over-subscription, priority will be given to PhD students in earlier stages of their project and those who have not attended a school before.   

In addition, a restricted number of scholarships will be available for those coming from outside of Norway - International students. This will cover room and board and travel from Oslo or Tromsø. There is no fee for attending the school.

• The summer school courses are free of charge.
• In addition, organizers pay for the accommodation and travel to/from Svalbar to Oslo/Tromsø airport.
• LingPhil students apply for a travel grant to cover travel to/from Oslo or Tromsø airport if you are travelling from other part of Norway.

International students

• The summer school courses are free of charge.
• In addition, organizers pay for the accommodation and travel to/from Svalbar to Oslo/Tromsø airport.
• Internationa students cover their travel costs to/from Oslo or Tromsø airport to your home destination.
