About HUNT Cloud
We believe it must be a simple thing for researchers to get flexible, elegant and secure computer environments
Such solutions will enable researcher to extract impact knowledge faster. Such solutions will enhance the privacy and information security for research participants.
The Nord-Trøndelag Health Study (HUNT) has controlled digital sensitive health information since 1984.
HUNT data center was established in 2013 to provide improved opportunities for collection, accessibility and analysis of large-scale research data from the HUNT studies.
Several large digitization efforts lead from 2014 to 2016 made a pressing need to provide flexible and controlled analytical environments to the many new researchers showing interest in analyzing this data.
HUNT Cloud was established as the rental part of HUNT data center in 2014. HUNT Cloud was expanded from a 'private cloud' for HUNT researchers to a 'community cloud' for a wider research community in 2017. This move initiated a complete rebuild of the infrastructure.
HUNT Cloud is continuously developed by a team that wholeheartedly believe in information as a source for knowledge!
The infrastructure is developed under the mentorship of Kristian Hveem.
HUNT data center is owned by the Director of HUNT Research Centre, Steinar Krokstad.
