Climate change and the energy system

Climate change and the energy system

How will climate change affect Trondheim in 2050? What energy system do we need to achieve the goal of a zero emission society? How can we facilitate more biological diversity in urban areas? You will learn more about all of these topics within this section.

The Electricity Future

The Electricity Future

When you plug an electric device into a socket in the year 2050, where do you think the electricity will come from? Will there be enough energy? In this exhibition, you can see how we can connect renewable energy resources that will provide sufficient power in the future.

Clean Solar Fuels of the Future?

Clean Solar Fuels of the Future?

What type of energy will we use in the future? Today, our society is dependent on fossile fuels, but in the future we need to produce cleaner alternatives. Is it possible to do this using sunlight?

With the climate changing, what will this mean for Trondheim? What would the city look like if the water level rose? Put on our headset and see for yourself, and jump on the treadmill to play a game about how to stop climate change.

Why is it of paramount importance to conserve biodiversity, including in cities? How do we increase it? Join us and learn how we evaluate the extent of species’ distribution, and how even you can map this quantity.

Noise in the Ocean – Invisible Treath

Noise in the Ocean – Invisible Treath

What do 100 MHz sound waves fired from an underwater airgun feel like? What happens to your ears when a marine engine passes you under water? For animals that lives in the sea, such sound pollution causes permanent damage to their nerves and internal organs. One of the causes of the pollution is human searches for oil and gas.

Ocean Charters – What Happened?

Rather than look forward into an ever-more menacing future, the Charter project changes point of view and looks back from the year 2069. What should we have done differently? The project outlines fundamental values and principles, responsibilities and collaborations that have emerged from the exploration and exploitation of the oceans.

Humlebuzz

Humlebuzz

Visit us and experience live bumblebees! How do they live? Why are bumblebees so important? Through Humlebuzz we want to share knowledge about how important the insects and flowers are to the production of food all over the world. Every third mouthful of food people eat is the result of a collaboration between flowering plants and insects. As a consequence of this, there will be much less food in the world if insects disappear. How can we help them?
