FRANCESCA THYSSEN-BORNEMISZA - Founder & Chair TBA21

Founder and Chair of Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary (TBA21) and its sister organization TBA21–Academy

Francesca Thyssen-Bornemisza is an activist, philanthropist, and patron of the arts. Driven by a belief in the power of art to serve as an agent of change, Thyssen-Bornemisza has supported artists throughout her career in the production and creation of new works that fuel engagement with the most pressing issues of our times.

Her sustained commitment to the cultural realm extends a long tradition of collecting and philanthropy that dates back generations in the Thyssen family.

ISELIN NYBØ - Minister of Science and Higher Education

Nybø has a law degree from the University of Bergen in 2006. Nybø was a member of the Norwegian parliament from 2013-2017 for the county of Rogaland and the Liberal Party.

As the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Nybø is responsible for Norwegian research policy and higher education

 
Vidar Helgesen

VIDAR HELGESEN - Norway's Envoy for the Ocean

Vidar Helgesen is a member of the Conservative party in Norway, and former Minister of Climate and Environment, from 2015-2018. Helgesen served as chief of staff for Prime Minister Erna Solberg from 2013-2015. From 2018, Helgesen has been appointed Norway’s Special Envoy to the High-level Panel on Building a Sustainable Ocean Economy.

 

INGRID SCHJØLBERG - Director NTNU Oceans

Ingrid Schjølberg is Vice Dean for research and innovation at the Faculty of Engineering. She is professor in Marine Technology and director of NTNU Oceans. Schjølberg is a key player in the Norwegian marine and maritime arena and a member of the expert group at the Norwegian High Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy.

NTNU Oceans is one of four strategic research areas at NTNU. NTNU Oceans generates and supports key research activities on maritime transport – autonomous ships; deep-ocean research; polar science and technology; sustainable seafood and marine bio resources; marine minerals and renewables; marine environment, society and sustainability.

MARKUS REYMANN - Director TBA21 Academy

Markus Reymann was trained as an actor and successfully performed on screen and on stage for many years, and in major productions. He joined TBA21 in 2011.

With TBA21 Chairwoman and Founder Francesca Thyssen-Bornemisza, he co-founded TBA21 Academy where he subsequently took on the role of a director. As a central programming unit of TBA21, the Academy provides a moving platform of cultural production and interdisciplinary exchange within TBA21.

In December 2015 at COP21 Reymann announced TBA21-Academy's latest program The Current. The Current is the exploratory soul of TBA21. It was conceived to raise awareness for today's most urgent ecological, social, and economic issues.

VEGAR JOHANSEN - CEO SINTEF Ocean

Vegar Johansen is the CEO of SINTEF Ocean. Under his leadership SINTEF Oceans conducts research and innovation related to ocean space for national and international industries. 

SINTEF has a long tradition for being a knowledge supplier and a good partner for Norwegian companies. We will continue to be so in the future, and through SINTEF Ocean we have established a centre of gravity for marine and maritime research, both in Norway and internationally.

JARL FRIJS-MADSEN - Ambassador of Denmark

Jarl Frijs-Madsen, is the Ambassador of Denmark to Norway. He is former Chief of the Trade council in Denmark, and has been the Danish Consul-General in New York.

Madsen has also worked as a researcher and consultant, specializing in future scenarios and strategic processes for large enterprises.

TORIL A. N. HERNES - NTNU Pro-Rector for Innovation

Hernes is Pro-Rector for Innovation is a member of the Rector's management team. She leads NTNU's efforts to promote innovation, and is responsible for maintaining strategic collaborative relationships with businesses and industry on a regional national and international level.

She is also responsible for NTNU's focus on alumni cooperation and is leading NTNU's efforts for greater equality and diversity.

THIERRY BECHET - Ambassador & Head EU Delegation to Norway

Béchet is currently European Union Ambassador to Norway and official at the European External Action Service.  Béchet has held several positions in external relations, both in Brussels and in delegations.

Ambassador Béchet started his career as a national diplomat and joined the External Relations department of the European Commission in 1989 to deal with Middle-East issues. In 1991 he became member of the cabinets of two successive members of the European Commission, dealing mainly with foreign policy, energy and institutional matters.
