Salami Tactics Revisited by Alfred Rieber published

Issue No. 33 of TSEECS has been published

PEECS is proud to announce that the 33rd issue of the Trondheim Studies on East European Cultures & Societies has been published:

The present study seeks to re-interpret the coming to power of the Hungarian Communists within the context of the history of Hungary since the Treaty of Trianon with emphasis on the period from 1944 to 1948. The monograph makes extensive use of Russian archival material and recently published documents to demonstrate the complexities and limitations of Soviet intervention in Hungarian politics. The analysis concentrates on the inter-party conflicts that destroyed the functioning coalition and explores the intra-party disputes that characterized Communist policies and tactics in the drive for power. Additional light is shed on the relations between the Hungarian communists and their Czech and Yugoslav "comrades" revealing the deep splits within the international Communist movement.
