Research areas at the division of Theoretical Physics are condensed matter theory and astroparticle physics. We are studying how physics may be described through theory and mathematical models with a strong connection toward experimental activity.

Our research contributes to the fundamental understanding of physics, which in turn makes it possible to both predict new phenomena and also explain experimental findings in physics.

Condensed matter physics theory

We aim to understand the quantum-mechanical properties of various states of condensed matter, including the transition between them.

Astroparticle- and subatomic physics

Astroparticle physics is a new field of research at the intersection of particle physics, astronomy, and cosmology.
