Experience-based master in Product and System Engineering
An experience-based master i Product and System Engineering (90 ECTS) gives you the opportunity of combining your current engineering experience with new and updated knowledge within any of the following specialisations: energy systems, mechatronics and smart water technology.
The experience-based master's degree programme lasts for 1,5 years as a full-time student. You can get an individual education plan if you are not able to take the master's degree programme full-time. The structure of this programme of study makes it possible to combine your studies with work.
The courses normally have teaching 1-4 days a week. In addition, there are one or two weeks of intensive best-practice courses.
Admission requirements and how to apply
The master thesis
The master thesis consists of 30 ECTS. Your experience-based master thesis can be tailored to be relevant to you, your workplace or to the industry demands. The thesis will be based on strong fundamentals of systems engineering, modelling, simulation and computer aided engineering applied to your area of specialisation.
Study experience-based master in Product and System Engineering
This programme combines fundamental and specialisation courses, within the core of engineering, such as systems engineering, modelling and simulation, data analyses and experiments, and computer aided engineering.
The specialisation courses are elective and combine teaching from NTNU and practices from industrial experts. This is a great opportunity to combine state of the art theory with the everyday tasks of a job in engineering. Moreover, the programme of study focuses on training and how to use the modern engineering tools in the market. You will gain knowledge in key skills, such as 3D modelling, simulation of dynamic systems, programming, finite element methods, and computer aided design. You can focus on one of the following specializations:

- Mechatronics
- Smart Water and Environmental Engineering
