Welcome programme Sunday 18 March

10:30 – 12:30 Guided city walk (a guide will pick you up at Pensjonat Jarlen)
12:30 – 13:00 Lunch and registration
13:00 – 13:30 Presentation of NTNU and practicalities concerning the Athens course
13:30 – 14:00 Campus walk
14:15 Departure with bus from International House to the student cabin
15:00 Dinner at the student cabin
18:00 Bus back to the city

On Monday 19 March your first class will start at 09:15  in room 341, on the 3rd floor in Vassbygget. 


Practical information

Arrival and departure

To be able to participate in the Welcome Programme you should arrive in Trondheim no later than Saturday 17 March.

Accommodation

NTNU will book accomodation for you at “Pensjonat Jarlen” according to the information you specified when you registered online. 

Do not call Pensjonat Jarlen; all you need to do is to show up and tell them you are with the NTNU-group/Wolfgang Laschet. The price is NOK 336 per night. Pay with cash (NOK), VISA, MasterCard, Maestro, or other. They do not accept American Express.

We have booked two 6-person rooms, one 3-person, and five 2-person rooms.

Every room has its own ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet, a kitchenette with fridge and basic kitchen equipment, flatscreen TV with cable package, and free WiFi. There is also a larger common room with a TV, seating about 20. All guests have access to washing machine and clothes dryer.

Getting to Trondheim

Two bus companies operate at Trondheim Airport. Both of them will take you close to Pensjonat Jarlen. Flybussen (line “Trondheim <-> Værnes”) stops at “Dronningens gate 22”. 7 minute walk to Pensjonat Jarlen (next stop is Prinsen kino. Also a 7 minute walk). Cost:  NOK 100 for students (remember to bring valid student ID), and NOK 160 round-trip (valid for months. So you do not have to specify when you’ll be going back to the airport. Departs every 10 minutes.

Værnesekspressen to “Dronningens gate D2”. 4 minute walk to Pensjonat Jarlen. Cost: If you do not prebook: Same as Flybussen. If you do: NOK 80 or 140 round trip. Departs about every 15 minutes.
