Welcome programme Sunday 15 March

10:30 – 12:30 Guided city walk (a guide will pick you up at Pensjonat Jarlen)
12:30: Trip with tram to the cabin
13:20: Arrival at cabin
13:30: Preparing and eating lunch
14:30: Presentation of the NTNU, and practicalities concerning the ATHENS-programme
15:00: Socialising. Sauna and outdoor snow activities available. (Sauna: Bring bathing suit. There are separate men’s- and women’s changing rooms and showers, but only one sauna to share)
17:10: Departure from cabin, back to city by tram

17:42: Tram leaves for the city (stops close to where you stay)

Course programme 16 - 21 March


On Monday 16 March, your first class will start at 09:15.

Find your way to NTNU Gløshaugen’s main building (“Hovedbygget”, not far from the International Office). A guide will meet you there. You probably won’t need a 7-day bus ticket. See below


Practical information

Arrival and departure

To be able to participate in the Welcome Programme you should arrive in Trondheim no later than Saturday 14 March.


NTNU will book accommodation for you at “Pensjonat Jarlen” according to the information you specified when you registered online.

Do not call Pensjonat Jarlen; all you need to do is to show up and tell them you are with the NTNU-group/Wolfgang Laschet. The price is NOK 351 per night. Pay with cash (NOK), VISA, MasterCard, Maestro, or other. They do not accept American Express.

There are 2-, 3- and 6-person rooms, and 1 single-room.

Every room has its own ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet, a kitchenette with fridge and basic kitchen equipment, flatscreen TV with cable package, and free Wi-Fi. There is also a larger common room with a TV, seating about 20. All guests have access to washing machine and clothes dryer. Breakfast is not included.

Getting to Trondheim

Værnesekspressen to “Dronningens gate D2”. 4 minute walk to Pensjonat Jarlen. Cost: If you prebook online: 89 kr one-way, or 158 kr (2*79 kr) round trip. More expensive if you pay on the bus. Departs every 15 minutes between 9:20 and 18:50. Longer between departures outside of those times. Bring student ID.
