Course content

The starting point of the course is the theory base for air and moisture transfer in porous materials, air voids and at surfaces. Transfer phenomena in building assemblies and practical cases are treated. Driving forces, boundary conditions, different interacting mechanisms in different types of assemblies, moisture accumulation and drying, multidimensional conditions and relevant material parameters are also included, as well as methods for numerical simulation and application of relevant software.
The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.

Learning outcome

Give in-depth knowledge of driving forces, transfer mechanisms and practical consequences of moisture and air transport in building envelope assemblies.

Learning methods and activities

Combination of seminars and self study. An individual study report (e.g. literature survey, experimental or numerical study or similar) is mandatory.
