Course content
Topics:
- Transport capacity of water tunnels, depending on the main parameters (pressure, cross section area and roughness)
- Head loss measurement
- Methods for measurement of roughness
- Head loss estimation based on roughness measurements
- Dimensioning of water tunnels (economical optimisation)
- Influence of the real interest rate
- Relation between head loss and rock blasting technique
- Quality assurance and performance in accordance with design parameters
- Methods of increasing the capacity of existing tunnels.
Learning methods and activities
Study group.
An individual study report (e.g. literature survey, experimental or numerical study or similar) is mandatory.
Calculation exercise(s). The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.
