Topic 1: The health care professions and their scientific frameworks.
- Historical and philosophical perspectives regarding health care professions
- Caring theories
- Evidence based practice

Topic 2: The scientists ethical and legal responsibilities.
- The scientists ethical and legal responsibility
- Principles of research ethics, ethical science guidelines, access to the use of personal information

Topic 3: Research methods.
- Research design
- Different qualitative research traditions
- Generating data in qualitative research
- Analyzing qualitative data
- Quantitative research methods
- Methods for collecting data with regard to quantitative research
- Analyzing quantitative data
- Triangulation/mixed methods
- Reliability, validity and validation
- Credibility in research

- has advanced knowledge on research design
- understands what kind of knowledge can be generated through different research methods
- has knowledge on different methods of collecting and generating data

Learning methods and activities

Pedagogiske metoder:
- A variety of teaching methods will be applied in this course.
- The main activities will be lectures, students studying / working with assessments individually and in groups.
