Course content

Key topics in the subject are:
- knowledge formation in practice on sharing experience, guidance, reflection and development of practical knowledge
- Understanding and perspectives on knowledgeable practices - Knowledge and theories of knowledge
- evidence-based practices and practice-based evidence - on quality assurance and professionalism in service provision
- Service development and change work - Responsibility, cooperation and project management
- Demand and user-oriented service development - Systematic exploration of users' experiences with and perspectives on service offerings
- Critical and ethical reflection in and above practice - on taken-for-given knowledge and tradition-based practices
- The personal epistemology - on their own convictions, personal developments and professional thinking
- development of personal skills and morally sound practice
- ethical dilemmas and conflict areas in practice - on the power, help and violations of psychosocial work with children and youth

Learning outcome

The course focuses on the development of knowledge, services and professional competence. Attention is drawn to the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes in practice and the relationship between these. The course is closely linked to (guidance in practice and concrete) development work in the own workplace and extends through both academic years. The development work must be documented in a separate report that is included in the exam on the subject.

- have knowledge of science theory and research ethics
- Have knowledge of and experience with literature search and source criticism related to this
- have the knowledge to systematize and disseminate experience-based knowledge in a scientifically recognized manner

- can conduct professional criticism and research ethical reflections and practice in accordance with this
- can work independently with complex practical and theoretical issues related to learning processes in their own organization
- can critically reflect on how development work can be carried out in practice
- Can apply knowledge and scientific methods in a development work

General competence:
- can plan, implement and complete independent written development work and convey the results of this work to users and relevant professionals
- has developed his professional skills; creativity and courage, and strengthened the ability for further development
- can apply knowledge in the theory of science and research methodology in their own work with the development work and in the reading and use of other people's research in their own occupation
- can reflect on ethical issues

Work requirements must be approved to pass the exam.

Deferred exam is terminated for candidates with a valid absence or the result "failed".

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Psychosocial Work with Children and Youth (HSVPABU)

Required previous knowledge

Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) within a relevant subject area. Direct work with children and young people in at least half position.
