About the course
Course content
This course covers different theories of unemployment and discusses various strategies to reduce unemployment. The students are also introduced to business cycle analysis, how business cycles can be measured, theories of business cycles, and political implication of business cycle theory.
Learning outcome
The students should be able to distinguish between different types of unemployment, and have knowledge of the main characteristics of business cycles. Students should be able to associate these theories with trends in the domestic as well as international economy.
Learning methods and activities
4 hours of lectures every week and 2 hours of practical exercise every second week.
Compulsory activity: 2 approved term papers. Both term papers can be written as a joint project by up to four students.
Compulsory assignments
- Two approved term papers.

SØK1000, SØK1001, SØK1002 and SØK1003.
