Course content
Econometrics involves the quantification and testing of economic relationships and theories. We also discuss how data can be extracted, how reliable data is, and how available data reflects the theoretical variables. The students are also introduced to statistical methods through analyzing and interpreting data. Empirical examples will be discussed in light of inaccuracy and possible weaknesses of the applied methods.
Learning outcome
Students should have knowledge of the method of least squares and the standard procedures for fitting the least-square method when the classical assumptions do not hold. Students should also be able to interpret and explain the results from econometric analyses and be able to conduct simple econometrics analyses.
Learning methods and activities
4 hours of lectures every week and 2 hours of practical assignments every second week.
Compulsory activity: 2 approved term papers. The course can be taught in English if requested and as by the Departments evaluation.
Compulsory assignments
- Two approved term papers.
Recommended previous knowledge
Bachelors degree in Economics.
