About the course

Course content

Economic theory can be used to understand a variety of relations in different markets and to describe good incentive structures in different situations. The course builds on the course SØK3002 and includes newly developed microeconomic theories and new applications of the microeconomic theories. Examples on topics that are likely to be included are contract theory, game theory, the funding of firms and public sector institutions, payment structures in organizations, cluster theories, and behavioural economics.

Learning outcome

The students should acquire familiarity with microeconomic models, and be able to understand new contributions within microeconomics and application of the microeconomic theories.

Learning methods and activities

4 hours of lectures every week. One compulsory term paper. The course can be taught in English when there are English-speaking students who meet the recommended previous knowledge.
The course is an optional master's course, and it is not taught every semester. Check www.ntnu.no/econ/english/info.
