The candidate is through this work to go into a specific task and to acquire detailed knowledge within the chosen topic.
Skills:
The candidate is able to plan and complete a scientific task, collect relevant literature, use scientific methods and relevant computer tools, and write a scientific report.
General competence:
The candidate can work independently with a scientific problem, master actual terminology and evaluate own work critically and place it into a wider professional context.
Learning methods and activities
The thesis work is performed as an independent work under supervision. The supervision is given primarily in English but can also be given in Norwegian if the student prefers that.

The masters thesis has to be submitted in NTNU's examination system Inspera Assessment
The deadline for submitting the masters thesis is 20 weeks from the starting date (the students have additional 6 weeks if they are writing a master thesis abroad.) + 7 days for Easter/Christmas holidays. Applications for an extended deadline must be submitted to the faculty.
Students who fail the masters thesis, can submit a new or revised thesis once. It is not possible to improve an awarded grade by submitting a new thesis.
The deadline for the assessment of the masters thesis is 3 months.
