About the course
Course content
This course shall give the student knowledge on the topic work and health, with special emphasis on occupational hygiene. Occupational hygiene is "the discipline of anticipating, recognising, evaluating and controlling health hazards in the working environment with the objective of protecting worker health and well-being and safeguarding the community at large".
Learning outcome
The course shall give an introduction to the topic occupational hygiene and give the student an overview of the chemical and physical agents that still may be a problem in the working life. The student shall know the methods to do risk assessment for chemical agents in the workplace.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and term assignment. Portfolio assessment is the basis for the grade in the course. The portfolio includes a final written exam (60%) and a term paper (40%). The results for the parts are given in %-scores, while the entire portfolio is assigned a letter grade. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may change from written to oral.
