Student housing (SiT)
This information only concerns students who have been allocated housing at one of the student villages (SiT).
Students who have been allocated student housing at SiT will have to book a room using a booking code. If you have been allocated student housing, you will receive this code in an email from the Office of International Relations. Housing applications registered without this code will be deleted. We advise you to choose a furnished room at Moholt or Steinan when booking the room. The other student villages are unfurnished and more expensive.
When booking the room please make sure that you need to specify your exact arrival date in the open common field in the application!
After you have booked the room you will receive a contract that will be sent to you by e-mail. It might take some weeks before you receive this contract. All necessary information regarding accommodation will be included in the contract.
After you have received the contract you should contact SiT (not the Office of International Relations) if you have any questions related to housing, the contract etc. at the student village.
If you have received a contract from SiT and for some reason do not accept the contract or want to cancel it please inform both the Office of International Relations at email@example.com and SiT at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In order to reserve your room at the student village, SiT needs you to pay a housing deposit of NOK 5000 to SiT's account as stated in the contract. After you have received the contract you must transfer the deposit and fax or e-mail the receipt of the deposit, sign the contract and return this to SiT within the deadline. If everything is in order when you move out of the student village, the housing deposit will be paid back to your account.
If you do not pay the deposit SiT will cancel your booking and the Office of International Relations will immediately allocate the room to another student. If this happens, you will have to arrange for private housing on your own.
Choosing/changing your room
We advise you to choose a furnished room at Moholt or Steinan when booking the room. The other student villages are unfurnished and more expensive.
Unfortunately it is not possible to take into account special wishes concerning the location of housing, who you want to live with and so on. The only thing you can do is specify in the open common field in the application that you would like to share kitchen with a certain person. However be aware that there is no guarantee that you are placed together.
It is not possible to obtain a family or couple apartment at SiT at the time of arrival. However, after you have moved in to your single room, you may apply internally to SiT for another room or apartment.
Please note: You must under no circumstances apply for a new room before you have arrived and moved in at your allocated room. This means that you must accept the original offer as stated in the contract. Also be aware that there is no guarantee that you will be allocated another room and that getting the room you want might take several months to obtain.
Students starting in autumn semester
Students arriving in the autumn semester, who are allocated housing at SiT, will in most cases be given a room from August 1st. However, some rooms will only be available at a later date. You will have to pay rent from the starting date stated in the contract. If your arrival is later than the starting date you will still need to pay rent from this date. Please register your exact arrival date in the open comment field in the housing application.
If you need temporary housing, students arriving in Trondheim in the fall semester can stay at Roof Over Your Head. This offer opens August 10th. If you arrive before August 10th, you may arrange for temporary housing at Trondheim Hostel or Singsaker Summer Hotel.
