"Working on a subject which is very interesting for me, this makes me happy and motivates me to come to work early in the morning."
Name: Milad Khatibi
Study programme: MSc. Natural Gas Technology
Graduated from NTNU: 2013
Employed at: University of Stavanger
Job title: PhD/Post-doc
Former relevant jobs: After my graduation, I got a position as a researcher at NTNU for a year in 2013-2014. The project was funded by Statoil AS. I was working on multiphase oil-water-gas flow and published three papers together with other PhDs and Prof. Ole Jørgen Nydal at NTNU. Then, I started my PhD Research Fellow at the University of Stavanger. The project was “Investigation on cuttings transport in non-Newtonian turbulent well flow”. I defended my PhD on 2017, November 14th. I am currently working as a Postdoctoral Fellow at UiS. The project is “The study of non-uniform particle bed motion in pipes with Newtonian and Non-Newtonian fluids (Forskerprosjekt - PETROMAKS2)”
What do you work with? Running laboratory test and also doing numerical simulation.
What is the best thing about your job? Working on a subject which is very interesting for me. This makes me happy and motivates me to come to work early in the morning.
How did you get your job after your graduation? Having a good network.
What is it that «Natural Gas Technologists» are particularly good at? Gas processing and multiphase flow.
In what way are your studies relevant for your current job? As I specialized in multiphase flow during this master program, I continued my PhD and also my PosDoc in multiphase liquid-particle flow.

"I get to interact with different disciplines, products and people. This ensures that everyday is a learning opportunity."
Name: Eyamba Ita
Study programme: MSc. Natural Gas Technology
Graduated from NTNU: 2011
Employed at: TechnipFMC
Job title: Technical SME for Condition and Performance Monitoring
Former relevant jobs: Project Engineer
What do you work with? My group delivers software applications that monitor the condition and performance of subsea equipment which have been deployed on the sea bed.
What is the best thing about your job? I get to interact with different disciplines, products and people. This ensures that everyday is a learning opportunity.
How did you get your job after your graduation? I applied to my company and was recruited before i was done with my masters degree.
What is it that «Natural Gas Technologists» are particularly good at? Despite the name of the program implying a very specialized and narrow skill, Natural gas Technologists are actually very good at applying system wide knowledge to problem solving. We are taught to understand and be skilled at problem solving at any point in the value chain of natural gas. This means that when done, we have a very broad understanding of a lot of engineering fundamentals, from fluid dynamics, to system simulations, to process optimizations, to industrial technology and engineering management. From an employers standpoint this is very valuable because with a little bit of additional training such people can be deployed to areas where the employer needs and lacks skilled people.
In what way are your studies relevant for your current job? Part of my job is also to extend our performance monitoring application to production optimization and flow management. Haven learnt about multiphase flow at school, I am able to apply that knowledge to the algorithms in my application, thereby creating more value for my Customers.
