Programme components


Four programme options

On this master’s degree programme, you have to apply for admission to a programme option. You and your supervisor will jointly set up a plan of study that is adapted to you and your interests.

Databases and Search

This programme option has a focus on methods and technology for administering information and knowledge: Structuring, storage and organization of document-resembling information, digital libraries, knowledge management, information retrieval and multimedia.


Artificial Intelligence

Here, the focus is on how to make computers more intelligent and how to use IT as a support for learning: Knowledge-based methods, evolutionary methods, intelligent user interfaces, understanding images and net-based learning.


Software Engineering

The focus here is on interdisciplinary studies of IT in use: IT and organization development, design of user interfaces, multimedia and learning programmes, system development and quality assurance.


Interaction Design, Game and Learning Technology

Development of interactive graphic systems including anything from simulators to pure entertainment games. There is a focus on programming 2D and 3D graphics, as well as the development of software and software architecture. Master’s theses in this programme option will be linked to one or more of the following topics: graphics/visualization, software architecture and system development, computers (low-level programming, low-level construction and parallel programming) and artificial intelligence.
