Analysis

Three specializations in Analysis are offered:

  • Differential Equations
  • Functional Analysis
  • Complex / Harmonic Analysis

In all the specializations, there are both pure and applied problem formulations for master's theses. The courses TMA4145 Linear Methods and TMA4225 Foundations of Analysis are required for all the specializations. It is an advantage to take TMA4145 in the Bachelor's Degree programme.

For the specialization Differential Equations, the course TMA4305 Partial Differential Equations and at least one more course in analysis are required. Students are recommended to take at least one of the courses TMA4195 Mathematical Modelling, MA8103 Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations or TMA4170 Fourier Analysis.

For the specialization Functional Analysis, TMA4230 Functional Analysis and at least one more course in analysis are required.

For the specialization Complex/Harmonic Analysis, TMA4175 Complex Analysis and at least one more course in analysis are required. Students are recommended to take at least one of the courses TMA4170 Fourier Analysis, TMA4195 Mathematical Modelling or MA3105 Advanced Real Analysis.
