We strongly recommend all new master students from outside of Norway and the Nordic countries to attend Orientation Week. Make sure you register for the arrangement in July!

Compulsory for students from outside of Norway and the Nordic Countries

Place: at the lawn outside the main building of Campus Gløshaugen.

Attendance is compulsory for new master students from outside of Norway and the Nordic countries admitted to a MSc programme at the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
Information for all 2-year master students
Welcome meeting, Monday August 20
This is the first meeting for all new 2 year master's students at the Faculty of Natural Sciences. Attendance is compulsory. Make sure you are registered upon arrival. Registration starts at 08:30.
Lectures in master courses will in most cases begin in week 35, Monday August 27.
Compulsory HSE training
All master's students must attend compulsory training in Health, Security and Environment (HSE). This includes:
- HSE lecture
- First Aid
- Fire safety training
Corinna Dannert and Arpenik Kroyan are master students and will be your buddies during the first semester. They are here to help you with whatever you need, and will arranges several activities throughout the semester.

On the Facebook group you may in addition to communicate with the buddies get in touch with fellow students prior to your arrival. The Facebook Group is closed and only international students outside of Norway and the Nordic countries at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology are accepted.
The buddies are available from mid-July.
About the programme
The Master’s degree programme in Materials Science and Engineering is an interdisciplinary study programme that focuses on (i) environmentally friendly production and recycling of metals, (ii) the chemical, physical and mechanical aspects of alloy development and use, as well as (iii) development of new materials and the use of materials for energy purposes (batteries and fuel cells).
The knowledge and experience gained within the areas covered in the present study programme will be of importance for the material industry both internationally and for Norway as an industrial nation.
To tailor you expertise you can choose between the following three specialisations which you apply directly to, i.e.:
