Programme components 

This master's program is a full-time study that lasts over two years (120 credits). Each academic year is divided into two semesters.

After the first year, students must choose a specialisation in Networked Systems or Information security:

Networked Systems 

This specialisation is for those who want to develop and understand the architecture of online services and applications. You will gain expertise and skills in communications networks, online services and applications. You will learn to master technical challenges that require that you understand the interaction between functional and non-functional requirements and societal needs. Web-based services have strict real-time and reliability requirements. Good architecture and systems that are stable and properly scaled are important. 

Information Security 

This specialisation is for those who are interested in the security aspect of communication technology and want to identify security threats. You will gain specialised knowledge about securing abuse, eavesdropping and sabotaging of networks and information. You will gain in-depth knowledge of encryption and learn the principles, methods and algorithms for securing data that is transmitted over the network or stored or processed by web-based services and applications.

2nd year

2nd year

The second year consists of courses specific to the chosen specialization. It includes a specialization project (7,5 ECTS) and a master's thesis (30 ECTS) which are conducted in close cooperation with a faculty member. The topic is usually connected to a research activity at the Department of Information Security and Communication Technology, but there are also good opportunities to write a specialization project and master's thesis in collaboration with external companies or research institutes.
