The DAM (Design, Analysis and Manufacturing) group within the MTP department’s aims to develop high quality, comprehensive knowledge through education, and research in four main areas:

• Product Development and Innovation;
• Materials Design and Compliance;
• Virtual Modelling of Knowledge-based Engineering;
• and Production Processes

The experience gained over the years in the field of microclimate studies for existing built environment and cultural heritage preservation and in the field of atmospheric science and climatology is crucial for the aims of the SyMBoL Project.

NTNU will make available its expertise on tests on accumulation of climate-induced physical damage in wood, environmental monitoring, results of previous projects on risk assessment and scenarios of climate change impact on historic buildings and painted wood preserved indoors.
