Professor Emeritus Angus Clarke

Angus Clarke portrait imageAngus Clarke is Professor Emeritus in Cardiff University School of Medicine. He has worked at Cardiff University since 1989 as a clinical geneticist. He has interests in Rett syndrome, newborn screening, ectodermal dysplasia and its treatment in utero, and predictive testing for Huntington’s disease. He is also interested in the genetic counselling process, family communication about genetic conditions and other social and ethical issues around medical genetics. He established the Cardiff University MSc course in Genetic Counselling in 2000. He is President-Elect of the European Society of Human Genetics.

 

Professor Johanna Ruusuvuori

Johanna Ruusuvuori portrait imageJohanna Ruusuvuori, professor of social psychology at Tampere University, has long experience in studying social, specifically institutional interaction. She has studied affective interaction and multimodal aspects of interaction, as well as decision-making in various work-life settings since 1990s. Her present interests include shared decision-making, the role of affect in building rapport, and multimodal aspects in recognizing patient non-adherence.

 

Professor Ronald Epstein

Ronald Epstein portrait imageDr. Ronald Epstein – internationally recognized family physician, palliative care physician, educator, researcher and writer -- has devoted his career to understanding and improving communication and mindfulness in medicine. His 300 scholarly articles have revolutionized doctors’ view of their work, and his 2017 book, Attending: Medicine, Mindfulness and Humanity shows how becoming mindful can transform healthcare, build strong connections between doctors and patients, and help clinicians flourish while providing the best care for patients.
