Due to the unsolved Covid-19 virus pandemic, the NOF Centennial Congress Committee and the NOF board regretfully announce the cancellation of the 2020 Centennial Congress. The NOF board´s highest priority is the safety of the participants and sponsors, and the circumstances regarding the pandemic and official rules makes it inevitable to cancel the meeting.
The Norwegian government has recently extended the duration of restrictions regarding social gatherings to the 15th of June 2020. Due to their orders all sports, cultural arrangements, meetings and congresses are prohibited. We regret any inconvenience this late announcement may cause.
The NOF Centennial Congress was planned to be a great event, both scientifically and socially. The scientific contribution has been overwhelming with many exciting symposiums with top international faculties. Additionally, we had accepted more than 150 high quality free papers, competing for the ”Best paper award”.
Our congress is only one of many adversely affected by the international travel bans this year. It is our highest priority to express our solidarity with all those affected by the pandemic, and the health-workers who are doing their best for their patients.
The NOF organization is strengthened by this unfortunate cancellation. The Congress Committee and the NOF Executive Committee have worked hard together to make this Centennial Congress a special event. This has created strong and lasting bonds within the Federation. We are still working out how to minimize the loss for those who submitted free papers. We anticipate many questions due to this cancellation. We will strive to keep everyone informed on how we will progress during this unprecedented situation.
We would like to emphasize that the Congress Committee and the NOF Board are dedicated to minimizing the economic losses and damages for all participants and sponsors.
On behalf of the Congress Committee and the NOF Board,
