Introduction to Equilibrium Modeling
IØ8806: Introduction to Equilibrium Modeling
NTNU and Dr. Steven A. Gabriel invites PhD students to attend the course Introduction to Equilibrium Modeling in Trondheim. The course will take place 3-7 November 2025, 9:00-16:00.
There will be in total approximately 25 hours of lectures and a mandatory project if students want to get credit for the course.
A previous course in optimization is desirable as is at least a basic working knowledge of GAMS, Julia, Pyomo or other modeling language for optimization and equilibrium problems.
Aproximate schedule for the course:
Day 1:
Short Review of Nonlinear Programming
KKT Conditions Mixed Complementarity Problems
Day 2:
Mixed complementarity problems: source problems, connection with optimization, game theory, market equilibrium models for energy and other infrastructure.
Days 3-4:
Mathematical programs with equilibrium constraints (MPECs)/Two-level optimization models
Day 5:
Advanced topic and/or discussion of projects (time permitting)
